Almost 100 people have already died in the explosion of a petrol truck in Nigeria News in brief

In West Africa, 98 people have already died in the explosion of a truck carrying gasoline in the central parts of Nigeria. In addition, about 70 people were injured in Saturday’s explosion.

The local rescue authorities reported on the increased number of victims on Monday. Earlier, it was reported about 90 dead.

A petrol truck carrying 60,000 liters of cargo had overturned in an accident on the road between the capital Abuja and Kaduna when it caught fire and exploded. The fire spread from it to another tank truck.

Most of the dead and injured had gathered there to collect gasoline from the overturned truck.

The price of gasoline has risen sharply in Nigeria recently, and the country is plagued by an economic crisis. President Bola Tinubu ended fuel subsidies last year, and the price of gasoline has increased fivefold in a year and a half.
