The Almedal week on Gotland will be shortened to four days for next year, the regional board on Gotland has now decided, local media reports. This year, the speeches were spread over five days.

The “week” will also be moved to the middle of week 26 – just after Midsummer. Usually it starts on the Sunday of the same week.

Politicians’ week will, however, already be inaugurated on Tuesday, June 27, but with more focus on activities together with the youth parties.

Then follows four busy days when all parties will have to share a day with another party; either from 08:00 to 13:00 or from 15:00 to 20:00.

– The parties thought it was good, to divide days and have two speeches a day. So we will have quite an intense four days, says Gotland regional councilor Meit Fohlin (S), to Sweden’s Radio P4 Gotland, and continues:

– It will be a more compressed week and more focus on politics – every day.
