In France, the warm weather worthy of spring weather has led to the return of pollen and the risk of allergies. Almost all departments are affected.
Because of the spring weather which affects the entire territory, the risk of allergy linked to pollen is high in most French departments (3/4 of the country), reports the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA) on February 19, 2024. However, the return of rain mid-week on a large northern half of France will reduce the risk of allergies. Allergy sufferers must nevertheless remain particularly vigilant against with Cupressaceae pollen (cypress…) and of ash trees from the southwest to the southeast, as well as pollen from hazel and D’alder (Betulaceae family) in the rest of the country. THE Mimosa, already in flower in the South, can also cause local allergies. Fortunately, it is a large pollen that does not fly much in the air.
Allergy risk map according to French departments
The RNSA has published its Pollen Allergy Risk Map:
- In the Paris region and the East: It is mainly alder pollen that circulates (high risk in Hauts-de-Seine and Seine-Saint-Denis).
- In the south : it is mainly cypress and ash pollen
- In the north : the risk of allergy is medium, allergy sufferers must remain vigilant against pollen from hazel and alder.
- In Brittany : the risk of allergy is low. Only hazel and alder pollen circulate (but moderately)
- In Corsica : the risk of allergy is medium: it is mainly cypress and alder pollen that circulates.
Legend: green (low risk), yellow (medium risk), red (high risk)
