Police avoided head on collision Blenheim man arrested

After the owner of some allegedly stolen property found that property in a resale store, Chatham-Kent police were able to quickly make an arrest.

The property – reportedly taken from a King Street West home in Chatham – had been sold to the store in January, police alleged.

Police confirmed the suspect’s identity with the store. After police couldn’t find the suspect, a warrant was obtained for his arrest.

The 22-year-old Florence man was found and arrested Sunday. He was charged with possessing stolen property and released with a court date.

Chatham-Kent police recently responded to King Street East address for a bail violation investigation.

Police said a man had allegedly approached another individual he prohibited from contacting, being within 20 meters of and being within 100 meters of their home or place of work.

Officers also learned the suspect had allegedly violated this condition on several other occasions.

Officers arrived and arrested the man after a short foot chase.

The 26-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with criminal harassment and three counts of failing to comply with a release order. He was taken to headquarters and held for bail.

Police responded to Walmart on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg for a theft investigation.

Police said a woman allegedly concealed electronics and food on her person and left the store without attempting to pay. She reportedly entered a vehicle and attempted to leave the area, police added.

Officers located and arrested the woman in the parking lot.

The 36-year-old Chatham woman was charged with theft and possession of stolen property. She was taken to headquarters and released with conditions and a short date.

Impaired driving

Police responded to St. Clair Street in Chatham for a suspected impaired driver.

Police quickly located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The officer believed the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested and taken to headquarters for breath tests.

A 37-year-old Ridgetown woman was charged with having a blood-alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. She was released with conditions and a short date.
