In 2016, W. was sentenced to 14.5 years in prison for his membership of the Nieuwegein murder service. This group is held responsible for a large number of liquidations that may also have been committed on behalf of Taghi. W. and Taghi knew each other from their teenage years, they were members of the youth gang Bad Boys in Nieuwegein. He is a cousin of Delano G., the alleged gunman who shot and killed Peter R. de Vries in 2021.
