The terms of the increase in retirement pensions have been approved.
From simple and easy information – apparently – to implement, the increase in retirement pensions has transformed into an indigestible blooper and, above all, incomprehensible for those first concerned. Between the different announcements and reversals, it’s difficult to navigate. With the horizon now clearer, here is what awaits retirees in the coming weeks.
In January, basic pensions, paid by Carsat, should have increased by 1.6%. However, it was decided to make the introduction of this increase more complex. When we move into the new year, the increase will only be half of what was planned, so 0.8%. A catch-up will then be carried out in July, but not for everyone.
The 1er January, all basic pensions will therefore be increased by 0.8%. If, usually, Carsat paid you 500 euros, the amount will increase to 504 euros. For an amount of 1000 euros, this will increase to 1008 euros. An increase that applies to everyone, regardless of income.
The 1er July, a new increase in retirement pensions will take place. But this time, it will not be all seniors who will be able to benefit. Only those who receive a maximum of 1,500 euros per month of retirement, basic pension and supplementary pension combined, will once again see their basic pension increased by 0.8%.
Furthermore, on the same date, an additional bonus will be paid. It will correspond to the additional 0.8% that retirees should have received between January and June.
Let’s take two examples. Currently, Gisèle receives 1,350 euros in retirement, including 1,000 euros from Carsat. In January, she will receive 1008 euros (+0.8%) from retirement insurance. In July, this amount will increase to 1016.06 euros (+0.8% again). In addition, she will receive a 48 euro bonus to compensate for the additional 0.8% she should have received between January and June.
For his part, Christophe receives 2,000 euros in retirement: 1,500 euros from Carsat and 500 euros from complementary insurance. In January, his basic pension will increase to 1,512 euros. On the other hand, in July, he will not be entitled to the new increase or the bonus because his income (basic + additional) exceeds the ceilings established to receive these additional payments.
Note also that survivor’s pensions paid by retirement insurance are also affected by these increases planned in two stages.
