A significant salary supplement will arrive in a few months.
The promise has been kept. Many civil servants will receive, in a few months, a nice bonus, in addition to their usual salary. Several professions will benefit from significant amounts since, for these public agents, the exceptional payment will vary from 1500 to 3900 euros, depending on the function performed.
The granting of this bonus is part of an increase in the workload in certain sectors due to the preparation of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as the missions to be accomplished throughout the month and a half of competition. In return for their commitment, the State has therefore decided to thank around 100,000 civil servants via an additional payment. But not all of them will be able to claim the same amount.
In various decrees, the administration has detailed the trades that will be affected, as well as the amounts of the bonus. In reality, it is not a “JO bonus”, but an increase in the ceiling of the bonus “linked to professional commitment and the manner of serving”. Here is who will be able to receive how much:
- State officials: up to 1500 euros
- State workers under the general management of civil aviation and the public institution Météo-France: 1500 euros
- Personnel with worker status under the Ministry of Defense: 1,500 euros
- Police officers and gendarmes: up to 1900 euros
- Operating personnel of the French Waterways: 2700 euros
- Park and workshop workers: up to 3900 euros
Please note that not all civil servants working in one of the above sectors will necessarily receive the bonus, or even the maximum amount. Only those “directly involved in the preparation and running of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, or exposed to a significant increase in activity directly generated by changes in the organization of services linked to the Games” will be eligible for this additional income. The amount received will be determined by the manager.
However, eligible people should not expect to receive the bonus immediately after the Olympics. It will only be paid at the end of the year, during the last quarter. The exact date is not known but the unions are counting on the December payroll.
