No Star Wars film has been released in cinemas since the end of 2019. That’s almost three and a half years and this will result in a break of at least five years. Star Wars: Rogue Squadron: Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins’ film was considered the franchise’s most promising theatrical project until Lucasfilm saw off the film out of the blue.

In theory, the future of Star Wars in cinemas looks bright. There are a variety of projects in development that are intended to explore the big universe from unusual perspectives.
