Call of Duty Black Ops 6 will offer different modes in multiplayer so you can enjoy variety. We explain to you in our overview which modes will be available for release and what they offer.
How many modes are there? Treyarch itself differentiates between standard and alternative modes in its mode selection. The following are currently known:
Some of them are also available as hardcore versions. They’re the same modes, just with more realistic conditions like radar turned off and fewer lives. We’ll go through each mode in detail and briefly explain what you can expect in each option.

Standard modes
Team Deathmatch (6v6) – Hardcore possible
What kind of mode is this? A classic mode in which two teams of 6 players each compete against each other. The team with the most kills wins.
Domination (6v6) – Hardcore possible
What kind of mode is this? In Domination there are three different points on the map. The team can only earn points if they can successfully hold and defend the zones. Kills do not count towards progress.
Search & Destroy (6v6) – Hardcore possible
What kind of mode is this? In Search & Destroy, two teams compete against each other. One team has to plant a bomb, while the other has to protect the supposed bomb sites from being planted. The team with the most rounds won wins. A round is only then won:
Kill Confirmed (6v6) – Hardcore possible
What kind of mode is this? Kill Confirmed lets you compete against a team and collect their tokens from kills. The team with the most collected tokens wins.
Free For All (8 players) – Hardcore possible
What kind of mode is this? In Free For All, you compete solo against other solo players and put your skills to the test. The player with the most kills wins.
Hardpoint (6v6) – Hardcore possible
What kind of mode is this? Hardpoint (position) causes a point to appear on the map that you have to take and hold. The longer you hold the zone, the more points you can get out of it. The team with the most points wins.
Headquarters (6v6)
What kind of mode is this? In Headquarters you have to capture a headquarters and hold it. The team defending a headquarters does not have respawns. The longer you hold the zone, the more points you can get out of it. The team with the most points wins.
Kill Order (6v6) – Hardcore possible
What kind of mode is this? In Kill Order you have to eliminate the “High Value Target” (HVT for short) from your enemy team. However, you have to protect your HVT. If the HVT kills you get bonus points. The team with the most points wins.
Control (6v6)
What kind of mode is this? In Control you have to alternate between defending zones and holding them.
Gunfight (2v2)
What kind of mode is this? Two teams of two compete against each other with selected loadouts. There are no respawns. You win a round by eliminating your opponents.
Alternative modes
Face Off Domination (6v6)
What kind of mode is this? Just like Domination, only without the kill streak.
Face Off Team Deathmatch (6v6)
What kind of mode is this? Just like Team Deathmatch, only without the kill streak.
Face Off Kill Order (6v6)
What kind of mode is this? Just like Kill Order, only without the killstreaks.
Face Off Kill Confirmed (6v6)
What kind of mode is this? Just like Kill Confirmed, only without the killstreak.
