What kind of event is this? A Spotlight Hour is a small event that takes place every Tuesday. In the events, which each last 60 minutes, you can look forward to one or sometimes several Pokémon that are the focus and appear in large numbers in the game.
In addition, there is a bonus in each event that is active for that time. This can be a bonus to experience points, stardust or even candies.

All Spotlight Hours in January 2025
When do the spotlight hours take place? The small event takes place every week on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. It lasts exactly 60 minutes and ends at exactly 7:00 p.m. In the table below you can find out what content awaits you in the spotlight hours in January 2025.
Spotlight Hour on January 7, 2025
Which Pokémon is in the foreground? In the Spotlight Hour on January 7th, Voltobal awaits you in his regular and Hisui forms. While the Hisui form of Voltobal has Electric and Plant types, the regular Voltobal is only Electric type.
Which bonus is active? If you catch Pokémon during this spotlight hour, you will receive double the amount of stardust for each catch. It doesn’t matter which Pokémon you catch – the bonus is active for every catch within the event.
Is the event worth it? Neither form of Voltobal or Lektrobal is particularly strong. You should not plan both Pokémon to take part in raids.
There are also far better monsters in the battle league that you should use. However, in some special cups, such as the color cup, Hisui-Lektrobal can score quite well. If you are in such cups, then you should secure a strong example in the spotlight hour.
Can you catch Shiny Voltobal? Yes. You can find Voltobal in both forms, even in the shiny version if you’re lucky.
Spotlight Hour on January 14, 2025
Which Pokémon is in the foreground? If you attend the Spotlight Hour on January 14th, you will meet Roselia here. The Pokémon with the plant and poison types comes from the 3rd generation and has a pre-evolution with Knospi. Roselia can also evolve into Roserade.
Which bonus is active? For every Pokémon you catch during this spotlight hour, you will receive double the amount of experience points. Here, too, it doesn’t matter which Pokémon you catch. Each monster gives you twice the amount of experience points.
Is the event worth it? Roserade, the evolution of Roselia, can be used as a plant attacker. As such, the Pokémon can also be found in the list of the strongest attackers in Pokémon GO.
Unfortunately, the Pokémon are less suitable for use in battle leagues. Here you should rely on other monsters to defeat your opponents.
Can you catch Shiny Roselia? Yes, you can also encounter the shiny version of Roselia.
Spotlight Hour on January 21, 2025
Which Pokémon is in the foreground? On January 21st, Felino’s Paldea form awaits you in the spotlight hour. This form of Felino has existed since the 9th generation and has the Poison and Ground types. It also has an evolution with Suelord.
Which bonus is active? For catching Pokémon in the event, you will receive twice the amount of candy for the respective monster.
Is the event worth it? Paldea Felino and Suelord are not Pokémon that are worth using in raids. Use other monsters to do this.
Things look a little different in the fighting league. With Suelord you get nothing less than the currently best attacker for the Superliga according to the ranking on pvpoke.com. If you are in this league, you can take advantage of the event and hunt for a strong Suelord for the Super League.
Can you catch Shiny Paldea Felino? Yes, you can also come across the shiny version from Paldea-Felino.
Spotlight Hour on January 28, 2025
Which Pokémon is in the foreground? Mangunior, the 7th generation Normal Pokémon, is also expected in this spotlight hour. The Pokémon has an evolution with Manguspector.
Which bonus is active? If you send Pokémon to the professor during this spotlight hour, you will receive double the amount of candies. This can be particularly worthwhile if your Pokémon box is full and you have already tagged the corresponding Pokémon in advance.
Is the event worth it? Neither Mangunior nor its evolution are strong Pokémon. These Pokémon are not particularly suitable for raids or for use in battle leagues.
The most interesting thing about this spotlight hour might be the bonus, which you can make the most of to free up some space in your box.
Can you catch Shiny Mangounior? Yes, this Pokémon can also appear as Shiny, provided you’re lucky.
A big aspect of Pokémon GO is fighting against other trainers and their Pokémon. Such a fight can take place not only for one’s own benefit, but also partly for a selfless and noble motivation: player saves helpless Gyarados from a desperate trainer
