Netflix’s horror series Goosebumps at Midnight offers an ideal introduction to Mike Flanagan’s horror world with chilling fireplace stories and harrowing horror drama in the youth hospice. Anyone who has seen his previous series (Haunted Hill House, Bly Manor and Midnight Mass) will be surprised after the 10 episodes: The story isn’t over yet.
Goosebumps at Midnight is not a miniseries, but a horror story that is actually designed for several seasons. But will there be a sequel at all?
Unfortunately, there will be no second season of the Netflix horror series
Goose bumps at midnight breaks world records. However, that was not enough for an extension. Has less than two months after launch Netflix surprisingly canceled the horror series. Creator Mike Flanagan has probably already expected a cancellation. Because he is already presenting an emergency plan that promises fans answers to unanswered questions.

The contingency plan for the goosebumps at midnight drop-off
Unfortunately, fewer and fewer Netflix series are now making it past one season. Too often new shows are dropped after nasty cliffhanger endings without fans getting answers to all their questions. but Mike Flanagan had a contingency plan from the start of the seriesso that exactly that doesn’t happen, as he explained to TVLine at the time:
We haven’t answered some of the season’s key questions. This There are answers, but they are intended for the next season. If there are none, I will post on twitterand then at least we can all talk about it.
So for now, fans needn’t worry that we’ll never know what’s next for Ilonka, Kevin, Spencer, Natsuki, Amesh, and Cheri. A twitter thread is though no substitute for a proper second seasonwhich offers us new scary stories, tragic farewells and surprising answers to the numerous unanswered questions.
Goose bumps at midnight: open questions and plans for season 2
Midnight Goosebumps is based in large part on Christopher Pike’s horror novel The Midnight Club. This was not completely adapted in season 1. So the final fate of some beloved characters is still pending. But the series is much more and expands on the basic concept of the template with new characters and that Mystery of the Paragon sect.

Another big difference from the book: there are more members of the Midnight Club in the Netflix series. If the series had gotten a second season, the imminent death of the characters would not have been an obstacle to the continuation of the story. According to Mike Flanagan, it should new youngsters in the future who would have joined the nightly scary hour in the hospice:
If we lose our characters, new ones will be added, which Ilonka can finally instruct. This cycle is something that isn’t in the book and we can do that.
In addition, the horror stories told by the kids in Goosebumps at Midnight also play a much more prominent role. These are largely based on other books by author Christopher Pike. With about 80 novels written by Pike, the Netflix series would still have had enough material for more midnight stories.
