The Netflix hit Love is Blind hit like a bomb because the concept caused a lot of excitement: love-hungry singles are locked alone in chambers and have to date for all they’re worth. However, the potential dream couples cannot see, feel or smell each other; only listening is allowed through the partition. Can you find out from their voice whether the other person is the person for life? And how are you supposed to fall in love without knowing your face?
The daring dating experiment was really well received by the audience. So it’s no wonder that Netflix is launching a German spin-off of the hit show. The new show starts in Germany from today.
Drama, love and heartbreak: Love is Blind has it all
Even though Love is Blind: Germany presents itself as a romantic dome format, the filming gets down to the nitty-gritty: the candidates are locked in narrow rooms where they get to know new singles separated by a partition. Can you fall in love with a person without seeing their face? And how do you deal with it if your voice and appearance don’t match? Is love really not based on appearances?
As if that weren’t dramatic enough, there’s a lot at stake for the participants: Shortly before the end of the blind dating phase, the lovebirds have to decide whether a future together would be conceivable. If so, the marriage proposal comes straight away, after all on reality TV things always have to happen quickly. This means that the candidates are faced with the most dramatic choice of their lives: the end of love or a dream wedding – with a person whose face they have only just met.
