All inclusive may be prohibited at popular destinations

There are a lot of popular destinations that are bothered by tourists.

News24 has previously written about several different destinations that have introduced laws and financial incentives to keep careless tourists in check, or simply drive them away. In one country, several restaurant owners have introduced double price lists on their own initiative, where tourists have to pay more than locals.

Fines for drunk tourists

In the Spanish island group of the Balearic Islands, laws have been introduced that regulate when and where alcohol may be consumed, with the aim of reducing the risk of drunken tourist groups.

If you violate these new laws, you may be liable for a fine of up to SEK 17,000.

This year, there have been fewer tourists visiting Turkey, which has caused the authorities to rethink.

There, it is not entirely unusual for Swedish tourists to buy all-inclusive trips with hotel, beach hangout and buffet. Despite its popularity, few tourists move outside these hotel areas and therefore few visit local shops, restaurants or attractions.

As a result, it has become more expensive to shop from local operators, rather than staying at the hotel and taking part in everything that is included.

The proposal: Abolish all inclusive

Turkish authorities believe that the local economy needs to improve, and as a result they are proposing a ban on all-inclusive hotels, something like Norwegian The daily newspaper has reported on with reference to the Turkish newspaper Hürriyet.

At the same time, there are several hotel managers in Antalya and Bodrum who express concern about the ban. The proposal is being discussed and it is not yet clear whether it will become a reality or not.
