The world is talking about the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh today. After the incident, which is wondered how it will affect the outcome of the conflict between Israel and Hamas, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades described the assassination as “a dangerous incident that takes the war to new dimensions.”
“THE ENEMY MADE A MISCALCULATION”
“The brutal assassination of Haniyeh in the heart of the Iranian capital is an important and dangerous event that will take the war to new dimensions that will have major effects on the entire region. The enemy miscalculated by expanding its circle of attack, assassinating resistance leaders in various areas, and violating the sovereignty of regional countries,” the Qassam Brigades said in a statement on their Telegram account.
“NETANYAHU WAS BLIND”
Assessing that narcissism has “blinded” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the statement argued that Netanyahu is “dragging the occupiers into the abyss, accelerating their collapse and their eternal disappearance from Palestinian lands.”
Netanyahu recently met with US President Joe Biden at the White House.
The statement said, “It is time to put an end to this Zionist immorality, to restrain this fierce enemy, to cut off its hand that stirs up trouble, and to deter its aggression. The ongoing crimes of the enemy in various areas are ringing alarm bells for all countries and peoples in the region. (The assassination of Haniyeh) should mobilize everyone to support the Palestinian resistance because Palestine is the forward defense line of the entire ummah.”
HAMAS LEADER HANİYE ASSASSINATION IN IRAN
Haniyeh was in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. In a statement made in the early hours of July 31, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that Haniyeh’s residence in Tehran was attacked.
While Iran and the Hamas Movement hold Israel responsible for the assassination, Israeli officials have refrained from making a statement about the incident.
Haniyeh was elected as the Head of Hamas’ Political Bureau by the Hamas Shura Council on May 6, 2017, replacing Khaled Meshaal.
