Ducks can fly, right? “Yes, but young ducklings are not yet through the down feathers. So it is important for them that when they are still small and look for food in the water that they can get out again,” explains urban ecologist Pascalle Dekker. “Because they don’t get out of the water in time, they get tired and that makes them easy prey for pike and other fish that like a duckling.”
