All charges Dropped in Sarnia Motel Invasion Case

All Four People Arrested After Sarnia Police Said A Pair Staying in a motel room was Held Against Their Will Had the charges they were facing dropped by the crown about a year after they were Laid.

Police Said They Were Called to the Bluewater Motel on London Line Shortly Before 6 Am on Jan. 23, 2024, where occupants Were Held Briefly Held Against Their Will. They were not insult, they Said.

But Police also suretyed the public to avoid the area that morning due to a heavy officice presence as they are searched for suspects and evidence.

In an update Issued Two Days Later, Police Called It A Targeted Incident and Said they are charged Four Sarnia Residents with forbidden confinement, Robbery, and Breaking and Entering Into A Dwelling. The accused included Benjamin Lockery, 24, Sarah Daponte, 34, Kasandra McKelvey, 35, and Kenneth Tobey, 40.

But McKelvey’s charges we dopped last month, daponte’s on Jan. 22, and Tobey and Lockery Had Their Charges Withdrawn Jan. 23, All at the Request of the Crown.

While asking for daponte’s charges to be dropped, Assistant Crown Attorney Meaghan Jones Told Justice Mark Poland the Case Was Plagued from the outset and its Reasonable Prospect of Conviction has gotten weaker over the past few months.

“Now the case has suffered comes out of its final death knell with a refocus development,” She Said.

Assistant Crown Attorney Suzanne Lasha, who was in charge of the case, offered poand so additional details on Jan. 23, The Day a Two-Day Preliminary Hearing was set to start.

However, Tobey Still has Several Outstanding Cases in Sarnia Including One from August Linked to an Alleged Attack with a golf club. He was in short friday for an update on his various boxes.

McKelvey, who has one other outstanding case, is also schedulated to appear in short monday. Lockery, who wastwanted on a bench warrant, was arrested again last week. He was released after appealing in short wednesday and will return to short in March.

Daponte doesn’t have any outstanding charges in Sarnia.
