Like every month in Pokémon GO, there will be some spotlight hours for you in April 2024. We’ll show you what these are and which bonuses are active.
What kind of event is this? The Spotlight Hour is an event that runs every Tuesday. It takes place for a period of 60 minutes and focuses on at least one Pokémon that appears in large numbers during that time.
In addition to the Pokémon, there is always a bonus that is active during the spotlight hour. After exactly one hour, the spotlight hour ends and so does the bonus.

All Spotlight Hours in April 2024
When do the spotlight hours run? A spotlight hour always takes place on a Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. You can find out which dates, Pokémon and bonuses are waiting for you in April 2024 in the table.
Spotlight Hour on April 2nd
Which Pokémon is the focus? On April 2nd, Zubat will be the focus. The Pokémon from the 1st generation of games has the types Poison and Flying and can evolve into Golbat and then into Iksbat.
Which bonuses are active? During this Spotlight Hour, you’ll receive double the amount of Candy when you send Pokémon to the Professor.
Is the event worth it? Neither Zubat nor its evolutions are really strong Pokémon. Golbat is usable in the Super League, but the Crypto variant is preferable here as it is much stronger. The event is good for sending Pokémon that you don’t need and from which you need candies.
Can you catch Shiny Zubat? Yes, Zubat’s Shiny form is already active in Pokémon GO.
Spotlight Hour on April 9th
Which Pokémon is the focus? On April 9th, Glibunkel is waiting for you in the spotlight hour. It can evolve into Toxicroak and has the Poison and Fighting types.
Which bonuses are active? During this Spotlight Hour, you can enjoy double experience points when you evolve Pokémon.
Is the event worth it? Glibuncle and Toxicroak are not Pokémon that are at the top of the list of the strongest attackers in Pokémon GO. At least in the Hyper League, Toxiquak is acceptable, even if you should use Crypto-Toxiquak here.
If you are actively collecting experience points, you might be interested in the double experience point bonus when developing Pokémon.
Can you catch Shiny Glibuncles? Yes, you can also encounter the shiny version of Glibunkel during the spotlight hour.
Spotlight Hour on April 16th
Which Pokémon is the focus? On April 16th, 3 Pokémon are waiting for you in the spotlight hour. These are Raupy, Hornliu and Waumpel.
Which bonuses are active? If you catch Pokémon during this spotlight hour, you can look forward to twice the amount of stardust.
Is the event worth it? All three Pokémon and their evolutions are comparatively weak. They are neither worth using in raids nor for the battle leagues in Pokémon GO.
If you need stardust, you might be interested in the bonus and you can collect a higher amount of stardust by catching Pokémon in these 60 minutes.
Can you catch the Pokémon as Shiny? Yes, all three Pokémon appearing in this Spotlight Hour can also be found as Shiny.
Spotlight Hour on April 23rd
Which Pokémon is the focus? In this spotlight hour, Unratütox will be in the foreground. The Pokémon from the 5th generation of games has the poison type and has an evolution with Deponitox.
Which bonuses are active? During this Spotlight Hour, you will receive double experience points when you catch Pokémon.
Is the event worth it? Both Unratütox and its evolution Deponitox are weak Pokémon that are neither particularly suitable for battle leagues nor for use in raids.
The most interesting thing about this spotlight hour is probably the experience point bonus when you catch Pokémon.
Can you catch shiny rubbish tox? Yes, Unratütox is already available as a shiny Pokémon in Pokémon GO.
Spotlight Hour on April 30th
Which Pokémon is the focus? The spotlight hour on April 30th belongs to Piepi, the fairy Pokémon from the 1st generation of games. With Pixi it has yet another stage of development.
Which bonuses are active? If you catch Pokémon during this spotlight hour, you will receive double the number of candies for the catch.
Is the event worth it? Piepie and its evolution Pixi are not among the strongest Pokémon in Pokémon GO. At least Pixi is an acceptable Pokémon for use in the Hyper League, even if there are better Pokémon here.
Can you catch Shiny Peepi? Yes, with a bit of luck you can also meet and catch a shiny copy of Piepi.
