How was this list created? This list is a ranking of all films that actively focus on X-Men or mutants. We also include Deadpool in this list. We will ignore films that feature mutants as a cameo or end-credit scene.

14. The New Mutants
Release: 2020
A horror film in the X-Men universe sounds really exciting, especially in the superhero universe. Unfortunately, The New Mutants is not a good film. The effects are bad.
There is never any horror and the story doesn’t work, even though you have cool mutants like Magik or Sunspot.

The second failed attempt to bring the iconic Phoenix saga to the screen. The film tries to tell too much in too little time, meaning that the tragic story of Jean Grey never gets a chance to breathe.
The humanity of the various X-Men never gets the attention it deserves. The film tries too hard to be an MCU spectacle.
12. X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Release: 2009
Wolverine’s first solo film is also his worst. The character’s tragedy is completely ignored in favor of a formulaic, mediocre superhero film. It tries to tell the story of Wolverine and Sabretooth’s rivalry, but it doesn’t work.
Seeing how Deadpool is portrayed in the film still hurts today.
