Ilham Aliyev’s presidential candidacy has been registered. At the meeting held today by the Azerbaijan Central Election Commission (MSK), the candidacy of YAP Chairman Ilham Aliyev, who applied to participate in the early presidential elections to be held on February 7, 2024, was accepted. The CEC has approved the presidential candidacy of 15 people so far.
HE NOMINATED YAP ALİYEV
In Azerbaijan, the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) nominated the Chairman of the party, Ilham Aliyev, for the presidential election to be held on February 7, 2024. At the regular congress held by YAP in the capital Baku on December 15, President Ilham Aliyev was unanimously elected as YAP’s presidential candidate.
THE ELECTION WAS POSTED EARLY
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed the decree on holding early presidential elections on February 7, 2024, on December 7. In the decree, it was stated that the decision was taken in accordance with Article 179 of the Election Law, based on Article 101 of the Constitution, and the Central Election Commission was instructed to hold the elections on February 7, 2024 and in accordance with the procedure specified in the Election Law.
