Humanity is addicted to alien invasions. There’s no other way to explain why HG Wells’ famous sci-fi novel The War of the Worlds has been adapted so many times. Today and tomorrow The series adaptation War of the Worlds from 2019 is running on TV for the first time. The running time of almost 8 hours for season 1 is bombastic. However, Steven Spielberg only needed two for his adaptation.

War of the Worlds revolves around an alien invasion that… The majority of humanity was decimated within a very short space of time. The survivors try to figure out the intruders’ mysterious aggression. And finding a weak point.

The series adaptation of Wells’ novel received some good, if hardly enthusiastic, reviews (via Rotten Tomatoes). The gold standard for a War of the Worlds implementation remains Spielberg’s 2005 sci-fi highlight War of the Worlds.

When is the War of the Worlds series on TV?

Season 1 of War of the Worlds runs on TV in two installments. The first season starts this Friday, November 3rd, 2023, at 8:15 p.m with the first four episodes. The remaining four will air at the same time on November 4th.
