For the investigation chamber of the Aix-en-Provence Court of Appeal, in the south of France, the extradition in Algeria of Abdeslam Bouchouareb, in charge of the portfolio of industry and mines between 2014 and 2017, could have “consequences of exceptional severity” because of its age and its state of health. The decision comes in the midst of a diplomatic scramble between Paris and Algiers, which denounces “a total absence of cooperation from the French government”.
