Alfonso Lavarello new president of Genoa Airports

(Finance) – TheShareholders’ Meeting of Genoa Airport appointed the new board of directors entrusting the position of president to Alfonso Lavarello. The directors are: Giovanni Cavallaro, Ivan Pitto, Barbara Pozzolo and Alessandro Cavo, while Piero Righi has been confirmed in the position of General Manager until 31 December 2023 in order to guarantee managerial continuity in this phase.

The shareholders’ meeting (made up of representatives of the Port System Authority of the Western Ligurian Sea, the Genoa Chamber of Commerce and Rome Airports) also approved the 2022 Budgetwhich broke even.

In 2022 theGenoa Airport recorded 1.2 million passengers, double that of 2021 and about 20% less than pre-Covid. The traffic recovery continued in the first 5 months of the year with an increase of 33.9% compared to the same period of 2022. In 2022, in addition to having carried out the interventions in the North departure hall and Phase 1 of the new hold baggage control and sorting system, the runway was also resurfaced. Currently, the works to expand and modernize the airport are underway.

During the meeting, i shareholder representatives recalled the role of Paolo Odonea long-standing member of the Company’s Board of Directors and President of Genoa Airport from 2017 until his recent death: “His enthusiasm and constant commitment – it was underlined – were essential for restarting the airport in 2018 and in 2019, to deal with the effects of the pandemic, to hook up the restart of traffic and start the expansion and modernization works of the terminal”.
