Alfa Romeo’s first electric car – soon it will be here

Alfa Romeos first electric car soon it will be

Alfa Romeo was one of the last European brands to launch a passenger car with a diesel engine in the 1990s, and now they have once again been chasing after it.

Namely, there are not many modern car brands that are without an all-electric model.

Now, however, this will soon change, and in April 2024 the brand’s first fully electric model will be presented.

When you get started with electric cars, the transition must be quick. From 2025, only electric models will be launched, and from 2027 all models will be electric cars.

Old name is brought back to life

The name of the new model will be Milano after the brand’s hometown, and it is the first time that the model name has been used in Europe.

However, the Milan emblem graced the tailgate of the 80s sedan which was called the 75 in Europe.

Initially, however, the plan is not for the new Milano to be sold in America, but if the demand turns out to be sufficient, the decision can be reconsidered.

The last time the Milano name was used it was, as I said, on a sporty sedan, but now it’s a small SUV instead.

The car will be built in Poland in the same factory as the group siblings Jeep Avenger and Fiat 600e, and will thus probably be roughly the same size as these.

This means that the Milano will be smaller than the brand’s latest SUV Tonale.

Initially, the Milano will only be offered with electric drive, but a petrol-powered model will be launched in November next year.

Don’t want to become an SUV brand

When the Milano hits the market, the last three of the brand’s models, special models excluded, will be SUVs.

Another SUV is expected within a few years. At the same time, the brand does not want to be perceived as an SUV brand.

Within a few years, the sedan Giulia will be launched in a next, electric generation, and according to Coach believes the brand’s CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato that the body shape will become more relevant in the future.

– I strongly believe that when you talk about electrification, you also talk about aerodynamics, and when you talk about aerodynamics, you talk about the “Berlina”, or sedan.”
