Alfa Romeo Develops Electric Sports Car 4E Spider

Alfa Romeois working on a new small electric sports car that will rival the future Alpine A110 as well as the all-electric Porsche Boxter. The new car serves as the spiritual successor to the Alfa Romeo 4C. This vehicle probably doesn’t hit the market until after 2027. Confirmation of the new sports car comes shortly after Alfa Romeo unveiled the new 33 Stradale, which is limited to just 33 units worldwide. Unlike the 33 Stradale, the new sports car is entering mass production. In addition, according to Alfa Romeo product boss Daniel Guzzafame, it is getting the ‘Spider’ name, which the Italian automaker has so far refused to use.

Alfa Romeo 4E Spider will not be released before 2027

Speaking to Autocar, Guzzafame stated that there are still some things from Alfa Romeo that they haven’t killed. He said that one of them was his love of spiders and the other was his love of cars. Additionally, he said, “We want to continue them because that’s the brand. “This is among our ideas, let’s see if we can turn it into a plan.” he added. The automaker is focusing on bringing the new car to market when it has five models in its current lineup. There is a possibility that it could be called 4E Spider. It can also take its design inspiration from the 33 Stradale, which is also offered with an electric motor. Guzzafame also added that the car could imitate some styling elements of the Duetto Spider designed by Pininfarina in the 1960s.

The car’s powertrain could be powered by Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform used by the new Peugeot E-3008. It’s not yet clear how much performance the 4E Spider will offer, depending on where Alfa Romeo wants to position the vehicle. It may opt to give it a similar powertrain to the next-generation Giulia EV Sedan, which has a 100 kWh battery pack, a 500-mile range and delivers up to 1,000 hp. In addition, it may adopt a smaller battery pack to keep the weight of the car low.
