Alexei Navalny is missing – the prison authority dodges questions about the disappearance

Imprisoned regime critic and opposition politician Alexei Navalny has been in the IK-6 penal colony in the Vladimir region east of Moscow since June 2022.

But now he has been missing and impossible to contact since almost a week ago, according to his spokesperson Kira Jarmysh.

Both IK-6 and the nearby penal colony IK-7 have reportedly confirmed that Navalny is not there.

“There is no information”

A representative of the prison authority in Vladimir was questioned on Monday by a regional court. However, he refused to provide any further information about the disappearance.

– There is no information about his whereabouts, there is only the information you have, he said.

In addition, he referred to the National Prison Authority.

– The court will take steps to clarify the plaintiff’s whereabouts, answered the judge.
