Alexander Gerndt seriously injured in a traffic accident

Former national team player Alexander Gerndt has been seriously injured in a traffic accident.

FC Lugano tells us that Alexander Gerndts accident happened just a few hours ago.
“Alexander sustained serious injuries, but the situation is under control. The entire FC Lugano family expresses its full support for Alex and wishes him a speedy recovery,” the club writes.

The accident is said to have happened on Tuesday in the Swiss canton of Ticino. According to Expressen’s information, the local police are aware that the 38-year-old has lost control on a straight stretch, driven into a rock wall next to the roadside and then rolled to the side.

Alexander Gerndt was seriously injured, but according to Lugano – where he belongs to the U21 team – the situation should be under control.

Previously, he belonged to Young Boys, Utrecht, Gefle and Helsingborg, among others.

The striker made his debut in the national team at the end of 2010 and scored two goals in six A international matches.
