For several years, Jones spread claims about a school shooting in the community of Sandy Hook in the state of Connecticut in 2012. A total of 27 students and teachers were killed at the school.
Among other things, survivors and relatives were singled out as actors, and the whole incident was claimed to be made up.
Several of those named have since sued Jones for defamation.
Sentenced to pay damages
The trial in Texas concerned the parents of a six-year-old boy who was killed in the shooting. They were singled out as actors on the site Infowars and demanded damages of $150 million.
The jury has now decided the damages at 4 million dollars, corresponding to more than 40 million kroner.
During the most recent trial, Jones admitted that the incident was “100 percent real.”
More lawsuits appear to await Alex Jones, reports the AP news agency.
