Several English media are reporting that a return for “Fergie” is ready. The 80-year-old left Manchester United in 2013 and is seen by many as the best coach ever in the English Premier League.

Manchester United CEO Richard Arnold is said to be the one who asked Ferguson. The Scot reportedly met with United management on Tuesday to have his new role explained to him. The role is part of a think tank together with, among others, former club director David Gill and United legend Bryan Robson.

Alex Ferguson coached Manchester United for almost 27 years between 1986 to 2013. Among other things, he won 13 Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues.

In 2018, Ferguson suffered a life-threatening brain haemorrhage, the new role is a clear indication that he has recovered. Since he left, Manchester United’s best finish has been second in the league and management see his expertise as a vital part for new coach Erik ten Hag.
