Last year, a record number of seasonal workers from Thailand came to Sweden, and since then there have been testimonies of shadow contracts and poor working conditions. Now the Swedish embassy in Bangkok is appointing a special working group to review the issuance of work permits to Thai berry pickers. – Then we have to get to the bottom of this and ensure that the type of conditions these contracts set up simply cannot occur, says Jon Åström Gröndahl, ambassador Bangkok.
