Esse IK from Pedersör, which plays football at the sixth highest league level in Finland, gets a really strong reinforcement in its ranks: a 41-year-old Alexei Eremenko Junior is marked in the team composition.
The first match is scheduled for Friday. It is an away match against Larsmo BK in Luodo.
Eremenko Junior has a very comprehensive career as a professional in the sport: his career includes 57 A national matches and professional seasons in Norway, Russia and Italy, among others.
About the brothers Roma and Sergei have also made a career as a football player.
Chairman of Esse IK Matias Kroksjö is excited about the confirmation: Of course goals are expected from Eremenko, but also skillful assists.
– Aleksei has been training with Jaro for a few weeks and is in good shape. When the father (Alexey Eremenko Senior) coaches the men’s representative team, the matter progressed that way. A couple of weeks ago, playing was confirmed, Kroksjö describes.
The composition of Esse IK also includes familiar names. Niklas Storbacka, Jimmy Wargh and Pavle Milosavlevic are familiar names also from the Veikkausliiga level.
– Of course, the expectations are high, and we believe that Aleksei is a clear reinforcement for the team, says Kroksjö.
Esse IK is currently ranked 5th in the C2 group of the Men’s Four.
A talented brawler
Aleksei Eremenko Junior’s best times as a football player date back to the early years of the 2000s. At that time, the man won two Finnish championships in HJK’s shirt and was one of the team’s key players.
In 2003, the man received Finnish citizenship, after which Eremenko was seen representing the national team 57 times. Good performances were rewarded with a contract with Lecce, who played in the Italian premier league. After that, the journey continued to Moscow’s Saturn.
Eremenko Junior has ended up in the public eye for other reasons as well. In 2005, he was sentenced to daily fines for handing over a vehicle to a drunk.
In May 2008, Eremenko was caught driving drunk in Pietarsaari. The sentence was a 40-day suspended prison sentence, daily fines and a temporary loss of driving privileges.
