Captain of the Florida Panthers Alexander Barkov became the club’s best point scorer the night before Tuesday. Florida defeated the Detroit Red Wings 5–2, and Barkov recorded an assist.
Barkov, who is playing his tenth season in Florida, now has 614 power points (238+376). He rose, currently playing for the Calgary Flames, Jonathan Huberdeau ahead (198+415=613).
– I didn’t even realize what happened when I wasn’t expecting anything. When everyone started cheering – I’ll remember that moment for the rest of my life, Barkov told the NHL on the website (you will switch to another service) After the Detroit game.
Florida head coach Paul Maurice marveled at his team’s captain’s relaxed assimilation to the club record.
– He might be the most humble man I’ve ever met. He must be the most humble elite player I have ever met, Maurice enthused.
Besides Barkov, only one Finnish player holds the club’s points record. Represented the Minnesota Wild for almost his entire career Mikko Koivu collected 709 power points in the team (205+504).
Barkov has long been at the top of Florida’s scoring statistics, as he is already 40 hits ahead of Huberdeau. Next, he aims for the club’s highest number of matches, which is 19 matches away. Barkov now has 652 matches, Huberdeau 671 matches. In addition, the target is the top spot in the assist statistics, where Huberdeau has a lead of 39 assist points.
A huge boost to a place in the playoffs
Along with the track records, Florida is in a great mood in the NHL. The Panthers, who played poorly at the end of 2022, were out of the playoffs for a long time. The successes of February and March have lifted the team to the last playoff spot in the Atlantic division.
Florida has collected points in seven games in a row. From those games, the team has five wins, one overtime win and one overtime loss.
The club also has a flattering match schedule. In the last 12 games of the regular season, Florida will face, among others, the Philadephia Flyers, Montreal Canadiens, Columbus Blue Jackets and Buffalo Sabers, who are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
Two important games will be played against the Ottawa Senators, who are six points behind Florida.
Florida schedule: Philadelphia (W), Toronto (W), Rangers (W), Ottawa (W), Toronto (W), Montreal (W), Columbus (W), Buffalo (W), Ottawa (W), Washington ( V), Toronto (K) and Carolina (K).

Atlantic Division, top four for playoffs
Rantanen finished the goal with precision to the millimeter
Mikko Rantanen completed a classy power-play goal for the Colorado Avalanche as the team beat the Chicago Blackhawks 5-0 in NHL hockey on Tuesday night.
Rantanen tapped in Colorado’s 3–0 goal with a wrist shot, which slipped into the top left corner of the goal with pinpoint accuracy. In addition, he was credited with an assist on the team’s last goal.
With the win, Colorado moved past the Minnesota Wild in the NHL’s Central Division and, at least for the day, into second place in the division.
