Now a strong action must be taken against drinking at Mallis.

According to a new decision, shop sales of alcohol in the evening and at night are prohibited.

Even party boats are affected by restrictions, according to the Daily Mail.

The government of the Spanish Balearic Islands has grown tired of full tourists. Now bans are being introduced to try to curb drunkenness.

According to the new decision, which initially applies until December 2027, retail sales of alcohol in the evening and at night are prohibited.

“Low quality tourism”

The ban applies between 9:30 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. in Palma, Llucmajor and Calvia on Mallorca and in Sant Antoni on Ibiza.

However, the rules do not apply to restaurants, bars, nightclubs and the like.

A spokesman for the Balearic government told the Daily Mail that the new proposal is a development of a law passed in 2020 and a further step to “combat anti-social behaviour”. They want to get at those who are super and mess up the so-called “low-quality tourism”.

Also ban on party boats

The mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez, has commented on the new rules. According to him, the motive is to “deal with uncivilized attitudes” and that the rules apply to both tourists and residents of Mallorca and Ibiza.

If you break the new rules, you risk, according to the Daily Mailfines of up to 3,000 euros.

There must also be a ban on so-called party boats. They must not drive closer than one nautical mile from the coast. Nor should they be allowed to pick up or drop off passengers in the relevant areas.
