Albania shuts down TikTok for a year – “incites violence” | News in brief

In Albania, a dispute over TikTok led to a stabbing death.

Albania will close the video service TikTok for at least a year, the Prime Minister announced today Edi Rama.

According to him, TikTok especially incites children to violent behavior and bullying.

The closure decision is based on more than a thousand meetings that the country’s authorities have held between teachers, parents and psychologists.

There was a highly publicized case in Albania in November where a teenager stabbed another to death as a result of a dispute over a TikTok video.

Prime Minister Rama reminded that in China, TikTok encourages young people, for example, to study more effectively and to protect nature. According to Rama, the government is launching similar programs.
