Several people in the Kronoberg region continue to get cats even though they have had pet bans since before, something like P4 Kronoberg was the first to report on.
The cats are usually so neglected, scared and feral that they need to be euthanized, according to Fredrik Holm, unit manager for veterinary and animal welfare at the county administrative board in Kronoberg.
In some cases, up to 20 cats are taken into care.
– There is so much excrement sometimes that it is difficult to open the door to the room because there are mounds of pure cat excrement. Sometimes it’s so bad that we have to use gas masks ourselves, says Fredrik Holm.
In the last month, the county administrative board has made about five raids against a number of people where the vast majority of the cats were in very bad condition.
According to Fredrik Holm, these are often people the county administrative board knows from before.
– It’s misery in an indoor environment, quite simply, he says.
