Alarm of explosion in central Ankara

According to Turkish media, an explosion has been heard Kızılay Square in the Turkish capital Ankara.
Turkey’s interior minister says it was a terrorist attack against the interior ministry, reports CNN Türk.

The explosion must have occurred at 9.30 local time, according to CNN Turk. Gunshots are also said to have been heard.

A large number of police and ambulances are said to have been sent to the scene, which is located at the government quarters in Ankara.

The Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has spoken Social Media that it was an attack on the Ministry of the Interior in the morning – just before the reopening of parliament – and that one terrorist blew himself up and the other was neutralized by security forces.

According to the Minister of the Interior, two police officers were slightly injured in a fire that broke out after the explosion.

CNN Türk’s reporter says gray vehicle is of interest.

– It is reported that there was an explosion in a gray utility vehicle. There is no official statement yet. It is stated that the shots were heard after the explosion, says CNN Türk’s reporter on the spot.

Today, Turkey’s parliament is supposed to reopen after the summer break.
