Alarm about an explosion in a residential building in Stockholm

— We received an alarm from a resident at a quarter to eleven that a loud bang had been heard in the stairwell. When we get there, we can see that it is smoke-filled inside the stairwell, says police spokesperson Carina Skagerlind.

According to the police, it is not yet known what caused the explosion. The National Bomb Squad will investigate any items found at the scene.

Residents in the rise in question and people who were in a restaurant on the ground floor of the property made it out into the street. No one should have been physically harmed.

A window on the house is said to have broken in the suspected explosion.

The police have started a preliminary investigation into public dangerous devastation.
