As the quick-witted Jack Reacher, Alan Ritchson dominates Amazon Prime Video’s streaming offerings. For two seasons he leads the serial film adaptation of the novel series of the same name. However, it is not the first series in his work. He was seen in the comedy Blue Mountain State from 2010 to 2011.

Technically, Blue Mountain State marks Ritchsons first major leading role. He played the giant Kevin “Thad” Devlin Castle for three seasons with a total of 39 episodes before the college comedy was canceled. Now it looks like we can look forward to an unexpected revival with the original cast.

As Deadline reports, a sequel to Blue Mountain State is being planned. Ritchson, along with his co-stars Darin Brooks and Chris Romano, are set to return to the titular university, where they once enjoyed great success as football players. The Mountain goats are reunited after more than a decade.

Lionsgate Television is behind the new series. The studio has already accompanied the production of the original. It is not yet clear where the new Blue Mountain State series will be released. According to Deadline, the two streaming services are currently competing Netflix and Amazon as a potential home base for the Goats.

In the US, Blue Mountain State has gained new popularity thanks to Netflix. The series return would therefore fit perfectly into the streamer’s offering.
