The 60s icon Alain Delon was one of France’s most famous actors, with, among others, “Bloodred Sun” and “Scorpio”. Delon died on Sunday, aged 88, and had a plan in mind for how he wanted to be buried.
But the family puts a stop to it.
Would die in his arms
The actor wanted his ten-year-old dog Loubo to be “humanely euthanized” and buried with him.
– If I die before him, I will ask the vet to let us go together. He will inject him so that he dies in my arms, said Alain Delon in an interview with Paris Match magazine, in 2018.
The wish was widely condemned among animal rights organizations. They demanded that Loubo, who is of the Belgian shepherd breed, be allowed to live on.
“An animal’s life should not depend on a human’s,” stated one of the animal rights organizations earlier this week.
35 dogs buried next to the home
And after protests, Delon’s daughter Anouchka announced that Loubo would still be allowed to stay with the family.
At least 35 of Delon’s dogs are buried in a chapel in a cemetery adjacent to the actor’s home.
