Each year, the in Memoriam sequence, tribute to the missing by the Oscars, has its share of controversies. In question: many oversights, whether on the American or international scene. This year has not been an exception since many French people were able to deplore the absent from a major name for hexagonal cinema: Alain Delon.

The death of Alain Delon had made the headlines of the international press, particularly in Japan and Italy. But it would seem that the Academy of Oscars has not chosen to keep it in its sequence. It must be said that Alain Delon has never had the Oscar honors or a legendary reputation in the United States, having been appointed only for a Golden Globe for The cheetah.
On the other hand, in Memoriam put in the spotlight the French actress Anouk Aimée, in the casting of the film A man and a woman Who had been praised from the Oscar for the best foreign film and the best original script in 1967, for which she was also named. Conversely, Gene Hackman, who disappeared five days before the ceremony, is present in the sequence and was honored orally by Morgan Freeman, who praised “a giant” and “a dear friend”.
