Akseli Ahvenainen celebrates the Universiade gold medal in vaulting

Akseli Ahvenainen has won gold in the tumbling at the Turin Winter Universiade.

The medal at the Torino Winter Universiade was Finland’s second of the day, that morning Patrik Kuuttinen achieved silver from the shortened normal distance in biathlon.

Akseli Åvenainen22, was at the same time in a good mood and also relieved.

– It feels good to achieve a good result here. Today the course changed: the first descent was slippery, and as the day progressed the snow became a little stickier. Had to adapt to this snow and hill. The hill was good, but relatively easy compared to World Cup hills.

– Tomorrow we have a pair of doubles ahead of us, so we’re going towards that with good feelings. Today I had a good time with the bills, and now let’s pump more water and have fun, Åhvenainen said on Tuesday.

Åhvenainen studies at Hanken Svenska Handelshögskolan, and represents the capital region’s sports academy Urhea and Levi Ski Club.
