Akaa Volley in a tight spot – Hurikaani sought another away

Hurrikaani-Loimaa has a great opportunity to take the first volleyball league championship in the club’s history in front of fanatical supporters in their home hall on Tuesday, a continuation of five silver medals.

On Saturday, Hurrikaani-Loimaa claimed a second consecutive away win at Akaa-Volley’s home gym. Akaa-Volley led in the sets 2–1, but Hurikaani especially rose from the momentary backwater phase Eetu Häyrinen with force. He scored 22 points, in the fourth set as many as eight points, hitting seven points out of nine passes.

In the final set, the central players who excelled in the two previous finals took on the role of heroes. Canadian Daena’s Gyimah scored 7, 8, 9 and 10 for the guests in the set, the fourth was an ace, and the guests led 10–6. In the end, the set ended 11–15 and the match therefore 2–3.

Hurricane coach Olli Kuoksa found a solution for the away team to adapt to Akaa-Volley’s new composition during the match. Passari Lasse Jäntti replaced already in the opening set Ilya Ivanovin playing until the end.

– We weren’t ready when Jäntti replaced Ivanov. Adapting to the style took its own time, Kuoksa admitted.

In the final set, Hurrikaani continued with a brave passing game, and correspondingly, Akaa-Volley’s passing softened a bit.

– The reception percentage in the set was 73 and the attack success percentage was 71, Kuoksa praised the statistics.

Greg Petty support Häyri with 17 points. Gyimah ended up with 14 points and received praise from the head coach of Akaa-Volley Olli from Kunnar.

– Tough guy and even improved as the season progressed, Kunnari praised.

Akaa-Volley has to come up with new drugs on Tuesday so that the streak is not interrupted. Chopper Matej Smidl scored well again i.e. 25.

– We will think about the composition later. This was the first final that was tight until the end, but it didn’t last until the very end, Kunnari said.

History is on the side of the Hurricane, as the team has never lost a 3–0 lead in the finals.
