AKAA Africa and art with a capital A

With nearly forty galleries and more than 130 artists, the AKAA fair “Also Known as Africa” has become with its 7th edition a major event on the contemporary art market and more particularly on the artistic scenes of Africa and its diasporas in France.

This weekend was held the 7th edition of AKAA, “Also Known as Africa”, the first contemporary art and African design fair organized in Paris. An event dedicated to the artistic scenes of Africa and its diasporas in France, which presents the works of renowned or emerging artists.

Under the great hall of the Carreau du Temple – in this district of the Marais so dear to aficionados of contemporary art – 38 international galleries have set up a stand there.

For its part, VMDN set up its studio there for a program with four guests:

  • The great Malian visual artist Abdoulaye Konate
  • The gallery owner Carole Onambélé Kvasnevski
  • The Togolese visual artist dazed
  • The founder of AKAA Victoria Mann

Reports from Fanny Bleichner :

  • Atmosphere and wandering around the exhibitors and visitors of this new edition of AKAA.
  • On the gallery English (word which means in Swahili to look, to see, to observe) in Meudon. A gallery that works exclusively with visual artists living and working in Congo-Kinshasa.
