Opening and ending one of the biggest operatic events in the world with a parody is the bet of the 75th edition of the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. The Threepenny Opera, a play enhanced with cheeky musical interludes created by the German duo Bertold Brecht and Kurt Weill in Berlin in 1928, takes to the mythical stage of the Archdiocese in a new French translation. With – for the first time – the troupe of the Comédie-Française and a black actor in the main role, the Senegalese Birane Ba alias Mackie Messer, Mack La Lame.
