Air transport Urso hosts a permanent table to guarantee fairness

(Finance) – The Ministry of Business and Made in Italy hosted today the permanent table on air transportchaired by the minister Adolfo Urso and by the deputy minister of Infrastructure and Transport Edoardo Rixi.

Representatives of the airline participated at the table for the flight supply chain Ita Airways, Ryanair, Malta Air, Aeroitalia, Easyjet, Wizz Air, Neos, Sky Alps and Voloteaairline organisations Iata, Aicalf and Ibarof the airport management associations Assaeroporti and Airports 2030Of Assoclearance 3 Assohandlers.

The objective of this table is to create a cpermanent confrontation with all the players in the sector for the development of air transport in our country at the service of citizens and businesses. Particular attention was paid to the need for greater transparency compared to the composition of cost of airline tickets and mechanisms which lead to the formation of the price, in addition to the resources that each airport invests to promote its connectivity.

The table was also an opportunity to delve deeper into the contents of the Asset Decreewith the aim of acquiring any contributions aimed at improve the provision during the parliamentary process also with regard to the powers of the competent authorities to guarantee greater transparency to operators in the sector and protection of users’ rights.

During the individual meetings of the past few days and in today’s plenary session, all the companies expressed their views development plans in Italy. In 2023 it is estimated that there will be over 20 thousand more flights in the domestic market Italian compared to 2022, showing the strong attractiveness of this market. The growth estimates for 2024 indicate that there may be growth in the domestic market even in the face of an increase in economic uncertainty at a European level. On an overall level, the number of Italian domestic flights could further increase compared to the historical record values ​​achieved in 2023. According to ENAC source, it is estimated that the fleet of national carriers could also have the same trend.

“We cannot but judge Minister Urso’s initiative positively, which with the inauguration of the flights table has opened the way to a constructive and proactive discussion with the stakeholders of the aviation sector to find shared solutions in the interests of consumers and the entire mobility system”, stated the President of Conftrasporto-Confcommercio, Pasquale Russoat the end of the first meeting, ensuring that Conftrasporto “will bring concrete proposals which, also in the perspective of intermodality, can improve both the services provided to users and the activities of companies”.

“I would say a very important, significant and constructive discussion has begun with all the players in the aviation system in our country together with the Ministry of Transport Infrastructure, which will also eventually serve to improve the legislative decree under consideration in Parliament”, explained the Minister Ursoat the end of the flights table, hoping for improvements for consumer rights, maximum transparency on price formation and to guarantee a truly fairer market that allows everyone to operate at their best and develop traffic in our country.
