Low pay and too high a retirement age have caused several Swedish fighter pilots to threaten to quit or take leave unless conditions improve. In June, the Air Force came out and said that they would make some changes in their working conditions, something that they informed the defense committee about on Tuesday. Some of the measures presented by the air force included new support to be able to be mobile throughout the career and to ensure continued training for the pilots. – I take the situation very seriously, so we are actively working to find solutions, says Carl Johan Edström, who is the head of the air force.
