The first explosion occurred in an apartment building in Fagersjö in southern Stockholm at around 8.30pm on Monday.
The explosive charge detonated in the stairwell and the gate was completely destroyed. Several apartments were also damaged and glass panes were broken.
Five people were slightly injured. Three of them were taken to hospital and the other two were treated by paramedics at the scene.
The crime is suspected to be aimed at relatives of a young man who is connected to the Foxtrot network, according to information to TV4 Nyheterna.
The target: Majid’s ally charged with assassination plots
The young man has been in custody for six months and was recently charged with preparation for murder linked to Foxtrot’s internal split. He is suspected during late summer and early September to have planned a shooting, and recruited young people to participate, against people close to Ismail “Strawberry” Abdo – Rawa “Kurdish fox” Majid’s rival.
– There are fox symbols on the defendants. It is connected to the collapsed Foxtrot network, says Helene Gestrin, who led the investigation into the murder plans.
The second explosion took place on Lidingö at 03.40 on the night of Tuesday. In this case too, a bomb was detonated at the gate of an apartment building. The explosion was so powerful that cars in the parking lot outside were also damaged.
Shot defendant stood on the side of the Kurdish fox
In an apartment at the Lidingö address, there are relatives of another Foxtrot-connected young man who has also shown his loyalty to the Kurdish fox. The man has also been in custody since last autumn and was recently charged with attempted murder and the new crime of involving a minor in crime.
This after a shooting at a residence in Jordbro in September where, according to the suspicions, he recruited the shooters and gave them instructions on how to carry out the act. One person in the shot family was linked to a network allied with the “Strawberry”.
– The incident (in Jordbro last autumn) was part of the internal conflict in Foxtrot. The defendants were linked, as far as we have understood, to the Kurdish Fox and were on Rawa Majid’s side, says chief prosecutor Per-Erik Rinsell, who brought charges after the residential shooting.
The police’s fear of revenge – security work before trial
The fact that two explosions in a few hours were directed at people who are accused of having committed a crime – against the Kurdish fox – against the Strawberry Phalanx worries the Stockholm police. Sources state that it is now feared that a new wave of serious violent crimes may be on the way and that the theory is that they are taking revenge for the autumn attacks.
The trials in each case are to begin on Wednesday. The authorities are now reviewing security after the double explosions.
– The police are updating the threat picture, do not know the result, says Per-Erik Rinsell.
A man was arrested shortly after the Fagersjö explosion and was arrested on Tuesday morning on suspicion of public destruction. Two people are also arrested for the crime in Lidingö.
