Aid organizations pause all operations in Afghanistan

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Save the Children, the Norwegian Refugee Council and Care immediately pause all work in Afghanistan.

The announcement by the three major aid organizations comes after Saturday’s announcement by the Taliban government, which then ordered all non-governmental organizations to no longer employ women.

– We have followed all cultural norms and we simply cannot work without our dedicated female staff, who are absolutely crucial for us to be able to reach women who are in desperate need of help, says the Norwegian Refugee Council’s Afghanistan manager Neil Turner.

Johan Forssell, minister of aid, says that the organizations played an important role for the work in Afghanistan, and that they will make contact to continue working.

– Under no circumstances do we want to legitimize the Taliban, that is important to us, Forssell tells TV4 Nyheterna.
