The media office of the Hamas-led regime said late Monday that at least five World Central Kitchen workers were killed in an Israeli airstrike in the central Gaza city of Deir al-Balah.

Qatari news channel al-Jazeera according to a journalist present, the bodies of the dead were brought to al-Aqsa hospital in the city. The reporter said he had spoken to the aid workers earlier in the day and asked them questions. The reporter said he saw the IDs of the aid workers.
According to the reporter, the aid workers had been distributing aid that had arrived from Cyprus earlier that day.
Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese said the broadcaster ABC’s according to which the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is investigating the reports urgently.
The Israeli military said it was investigating the incident.
Aid organization served millions of meals in Gaza
World Central Kitchen delivers food aid and prepares meals for those in need. The aid agency said last month it had served more than 42 million meals in Gaza over 175 days.
Cook Jose Anders founded a relief organization in 2010, sending cooks and food to Haiti after the earthquake. Since then, the organization has delivered food to communities suffering from natural disasters, to healthcare workers during the corona pandemic, and to people living in the middle of conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza.
Anders wrote in X grieving for dead families and friends.
– The Israeli government must stop this indiscriminate killing. It must stop restricting humanitarian aid, killing civilians and aid workers and using food as a weapon, Anders said.
