FIBER INSTALLATION ASSISTANCE. Aid for access to a very high speed connection will double from April 1, 2022. For whom? How it works ? All the answers to your questions.
[Mis à jour le 7 février 2022 à 16h02] Do you live in a rural area and do not have a very high speed wireless connection? The government should give you a big boost. Indeed, state aid for households and businesses for the installation of fiber will double. It will go from 150 euros to 300 euro from April 1, 2022. The government’s objective? Strengthen French people’s access to digital technology. The aim is to give them the means to appropriate digital tools so that they can fully exercise their social, economic and civic life, and seize the opportunities offered by the digital transition.
Launched in 2018, the “digital cohesion of territories” system has until then allowed businesses and homes not covered by wired networks to switch to wireless broadband, thanks to aid for the cost of equipment, installation or commissioning for an amount of up to 150 euros. Present in the department of Ariège this Saturday, February 5, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced that this boost was not necessary for rural habitats: “The observation is that this amount is not sufficient to allow people to equip themselves. So we decided to go to 300 euros, even 600 euros “A serious boost from the executive. Today, the digital advisers in place have already supported more than 100,000 people
The State offers financial support to individuals and companies who want to set up a wireless solution. The device “Digital cohesion of territories”, launched in 2018, allows households not covered by wired networks to access good broadband (i.e. from 8 Mbits/second), via wireless technologies, before the arrival of fiber in their community. Until the end of the year, individuals and companies eligible for the scheme can thus obtain financial support. The aid, up to 150 euros, relates to the cost of equipment, installation or commissioning of the selected wireless solution, offered by local and national operators to offers labeled “Digital cohesion of territories”.
The “Digital cohesion of territories” system, piloted by the France Very High Speed program of the ANCT, offers three technologies and labeled solutions:
- the radio local loop (THD radio, Wi-Fi, WiMax, etc.) which provides access to the Internet via a network of antennas deployed by a specialized operator
- the satellite
- fixed 4G which works thanks to the network of mobile antennas, installed by the telephone operators
300 euros, this is the amount of aid for the installation of fiber as announced by Jean Castex, after a visit to Moulin-Neuf near Foix (09), on Saturday January 5. But this amount could once again change, and in the right direction for households. “The observation is that this amount is not sufficient to allow people to equip themselves. We therefore decided to go to 300 euros, even 600 euros” also declared the Prime Minister during his trip to the South-West of France.
The amount of this grant will be doubled 1er Aprilpassing to 300 euross (instead of 150 euros) for very high speed internet offers and will go up to 600 euros under conditions of resources.
First, go to the government website or directly at the town hall to find out which operators offer wireless Internet access solutions in your department.
Then, contact the operators of your choice to find out if you are eligible for the government support scheme.
Finally, if this is the case, choose the operator and the wireless Internet access solution best suited to your situation. Several solutions can be proposed to you such as the installation of a fixed 4G box, the equipment of a parabola for a satellite connection or the connection to a radio antenna.
The operator will deduct up to 300 euros from your installation bill for the receiving equipment selected.
Today, any household that does not have access to good wired broadband (fiber optics, telephone network or cable and 8 Mbits/s) can claim aid for the installation of fiber. Please note that the customer must complete a sworn statement form for their subscription to the labeled offer to be subsidized. In a second step, the operator will explain the concrete terms to him.
