AICE Confindustria reconfirms Del Brenna as President

(Finance) – Last June 10th he was reconfirmed as President of AICE (Italian Association of Electrical Cable and Conductor Industries)), Marcello Del BrennaCEO Southern Europe of Prysmian Group, Chairman of Electrical Infrastructure Group of Europacable and former President of ANIE AICE since June 2023. Behind him is a career spanning over thirty years at Prysmian Group (Pirelli Cavi until 2005), where he held various positions, with roles of responsibility in Italy and abroad.

The programmatic lines presented on the occasion of the nomination – we read in the note – they continue to follow the path undertaken in the previous mandate, aimed at structuring and strengthening industry alliances Electric Cables and Conductors at institutions, public and private bodies, promoting the interests of AICE members, with particular attention to achieving the country’s objectives in terms of energy transition and digital transformation. In parallel, Del Brenna aims to encourage AICE’s cooperation with other associations operating upstream and downstream of the value chain, placing the Association as a driving force in “building a system” within and outside ANIE Confindustria, in relation to the areas of greatest interest for the industry. This objective can be guaranteed by the continuous presence of AICE representatives at the Technical Tables of both national (CEI) and international (IEC, Cenelec) bodies, aimed at highlighting the added value that the products represented can bring to the market in terms of quality and performance.

The Italian Cable Industry Archives 2023 with an aggregate turnover of 6.4 billion euros, with an annual decline of 2% at current values, interrupting the growth path of recent years. Exports also showed a reversal of the trend, recording a decline of 6%, which brought the export figure at the end of the year to 3.6 billion euros.

In the medium term the demand for the technologies of the sector will continue to show a positive trend, fueled by investments in the energy and digital transition that will drive global growth in the coming years. The Italian cable industry is an international excellence with a consolidated leadership in technological innovation. Generation from renewable sources increasingly dominant in the energy mix, the development of networks, the electrification of energy consumption and digitalization require high-performance, innovative, sustainable and safe cable systems. Investments in research and development, in products and processes, allow Italian companies to dominate the sectors with the highest added value, recognizing sustainability as a key factor in the creation of value.

“The last 12 months – the President declared during his re-election – have seen a decline in volumes both on the domestic market and in exports. As representatives of the industrial sector, we have a duty to continue investing in sustainability and technical compliance, to respond to new challenges. Sustainability is no longer just a business opportunity, but a necessity to continue operating on the market, responding effectively to the growing pressure from institutions and our customers. It is therefore necessary to leverage the overall size of our industry, supported by the critical mass and great entrepreneurial spirit that characterizes the variety of large, medium and small companies present on the Italian market. Objectives that, despite the uncertain geopolitical scenario, could be favored by the energy and digital transition, driving forces for the Italian industry, in which cables will continue to play an important role.”

“The task of the Association will be to promote the Italian excellence of the sector and, in particular, the growing performance of the products both in terms of technical characteristics, safety first and foremost, and in terms of environmental impact. I therefore make available to AICE – concluded Del Brenna – my long experience on international markets and my membership, also at Europacable level, as well as my commitment to ensure that all members are listened to, given a voice and close to them, as demonstrated in the last 10 months of the ANIE AICE presidency”.

The AICE Board of Directors is completed by: Elisabetta Bragagni Capaccini – Tratos Cavi, as Vice President with responsibility for Environment and Sustainability; Luca Facchinetti – Metallurgica Bresciana as Vice President with responsibility for Research and Innovation; Francesco Sciarra – Baldassari Cavi, Vice President with responsibility for Regulatory Bodies and Relations with Institutes/Labs.
